The ‘Querformat’ series of concerts serves up exciting and unclassifiable works spanning centuries of music. Savour here two rarely-performed works performed at the historic Nuremberg City Hall, acoustically and atmospherically the ideal location for these two works.

World War II and the Holocaust also engulfed musicians, severing threads of tradition along the way. The concert rediscovers two Nuremberg composers who died young, Franz Hofmann (1920-1945) and Richard Soldner (1908-1945), and revives “The Love and Death of Cornet Christopher Rilke”, a melodrama composed by Viktor Ullmann, who was murdered in Auschwitz.
