Flora Miranda is an Austrian fashion designer and visual artist based in Vienna and Antwerp. After completing her Master in Fashion Design at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp, she worked for Iris van Herpen before founding her own studio. Her practice centers on the human body, its sensations, identities and perceptions, in both physical and virtual spaces. She favours conceptual, experimental and immersive work that evokes ‘otherworldly’, extravagant universes. She explores questions of digital identity through storytelling and material experimentation, combining 3D scanning and printing, laser cutting, machine learning and generative design. Through her design approach ‘IT Pieces’ (since 2017), she translates data into bespoke, poetic and wearable forms, collaborating with institutions from science, finance and technology. Her work appears as performative, spatial experiences integrating dance, music, light and architecture. She collaborates with artists such as Esther Stocker, Signe Pierce and Simone Niquille. International institutions including HEK Basel, HKW Berlin, Z33 Hasselt and MAK Vienna have presented her work, and awards such as the 2024 Henry van de Velde Award and the 2018 Good Design Award highlight her cross-disciplinary impact. Since 2018 she has created the costumes for Richard Siegal’s Ballet of Difference and contributed to various stage productions.
