FIRST-CLASS THEATRE FOR YOUNG AUDIENCES AND FOR THE CITY
The cooperation of the Nuremberg Staatstheater, Mummpitz Theatre and Pfütze Theatre
In 1997, the Staatstheater, then the City Stages (Städtische Bühnen), entered new cultural-political territory together with the two independent theatres: Mummpitz Theatre and Pfütze Theatre took on the cultural mission of providing the city and region with first-class children's theatre.
The regional, supra-regional and international successes prove this cooperation model, which is unique in Germany, right; the city of Nuremberg is known supra-regionally as a children's theatre stronghold. Children and families take advantage of what the two independent theatres have to offer and then find their way to the Staatstheater via children's opera, children's and youth concerts and school spot hire.
Over 25 productions have been made so far in the framework of the cooperation. Well over 100,000 children experienced hundreds of performances, initially in the Kammerspiele and the Schauspielhaus, now in both partners' own venues. This season, the Staatstheater is once again supporting a new production as well as several revivals of successful plays from the repertoire.
We are all looking forward to further cooperation!
