New venue in the Kongresshalle

With a venue for the Staatstheater Nürnberg and realisation spaces for art and culture, the city of Nuremberg is creating a new, unique cultural hub in the Kongresshalle on the grounds of the former Nuremberg Rally grounds that combines aspects of commemoration with interdisciplinary art forms.

Musical theatre and dance productions will rehearse and appear here during the expansion and renovation of the Opernhaus at Richard-Wagner-Platz. Plays will be performed in the newly constructed addition in the northwestern area of the inner courtyard of the Kongresshalle.

Nuremberg City Council voted with a large majority in July 2024 to commission the construction of the addition to Georg Reisch GmbH & Co. KG, Bad Saulgau. The venue was designed by Stuttgart-based architecture firm LRO GmbH & Co. KG.

The addition includes the stage, an audience area with 800 seats, the Orchestersaal and functional areas near the stage. “We will be able to make some very good theatre for our audience here for some years,” says State Intendant Jens-Daniel Herzog.

You can learn more about the new venue in the Kongresshalle on the City of Nuremberg website.
