It is very important to us that people with disabilities or impaired mobility have easy access to our performance spaces. Our learning process in this respect is ongoing and we are open to your comments and suggestions.
BOX OFFICE
The box office is only accessible via steps in the Opernhaus but is barrier-free in the Schauspielhaus. To find out if the Schauspiel box office will be open, please visit our website or phone us. Our ticketing office can be reached by calling 0911/66069-6000 or by emailing info(at)staatstheater-nuernberg.de.
IN ALL PERFORMANCE SPACES
MOBILITY ASSISTANCE
If you use mobility aids, please note that only walking sticks may be taken into the auditoria and this is at the patron’s own risk. Please position your walking sticks so that they do not obstruct other patrons before, during or after the performance.
Walking frames and other large mobility aids may not be taken into the auditoria, as evacuation routes must be kept clear at all times. Our ushers will happily keep them for you outside the doors to the auditorium, after you have taken your seat.
Please note that the lift in the Opernhaus only travels as far as the dress circle (1. Rang). Higher levels are accessible only via stairs. Our dedicated ticketing staff are always happy to advise you.
SUPPORT DOGS
Support dogs are very welcome and to ensure sufficient space for both of you we ask that you reserve a seat at the end of a row. When booking tickets, please notify us by calling 0911/66069-6000 or by emailing info(at)staatstheater-nuernberg.de to say that you will be bringing a support dog and we will be ready to assist you.
ACCESSIBILITY IN SPECIFIC AUDITORIA
OPERNHAUS
To help you get to your seat, there is a lift on the left hand exterior wall of the opera house. The lift accesses the stalls and the dress circle (1. Rang); higher levels are accessible only via stairs. Two spaces for wheelchairs are located on the right and left of the stalls respectively. To ensure that these are used only by wheelchair occupants and their companions, they cannot be reserved through the online shop. Please make your reservation in person at the box offices or by calling 0911/66069-6000 or by emailing info(at)staatstheater-nuernberg.de – and remember to specify wheelchair seating.
A wheelchair-accessible toilet is located next to the cloak room at the entrance to the stalls, left.
As there is no barrier-free access to the Opernhaus from the “Parkhaus Theater” car park, we recommend that visitors with limited mobility use one of two disabled-parking spaces on Richard-Wagner-Platz, accessible via Frauentorgraben, in the direction of Hauptbahnhof. The entrance to Richard-Wagner-Platz for motorised traffic is located between the opera house and the pedestrian-crossing (just before the traffic light).

The Opernhaus provides an audio induction loop. Seating with severely limited viewing/auditory conditions is coloured grey in the seating diagram. Only the coloured dots refer to seats offering a good auditory experience.
Our operas feature surtitles, normally in German and English. They are displayed on two monitors to the right and left of the stage at dress-circle height. Consequently, audience members in the dress circle (1. Rang) have a horizontal view of one surtitles monitor (limited view from proscenium boxes).
SCHAUSPIELHAUS, KAMMERSPIELE, 3. ETAGE
The barrier-free lobby of the Schauspielhaus and the lift from the Kammerspiele to the 3. Etage provide access to all three performance spaces, all of which offer wheelchair spaces (two in the Schauspielhaus and Kammerspiele respectively and one in the 3. Etage.
Wheelchair-accessible toilets in the Schauspielhaus are located in the Kammerspiele section, which can be reached in the lift.
Disabled parking spaces can be used in the “Parkhaus Theater”. A lift provides direct access from the car park to the venue.

Unfortunately, the induction loop in the Schauspielhaus only works to a limited extent in some areas. The best conditions can be found in rows 7-14, while in the peripheral areas of rows 1-6 and 15-18 it can only be used to a limited extent. Rows 19-20 cannot be offered for induction technology at all. To be able to use the induction loop, hearing aids require a telecoil, also known as a T-coil. In our experience, the best result is achieved when the head is held straight.
The induction loop in the Kammerspiele works well in rows 1, 2, 3, 8 and 10. Rows 4, 5, 6, and 7 are less suitable. Please accept our apologies.
We are currently unable to offer this service at all at the 3. Etage. We apologise for this.
Our staff in the Opernhaus and Schauspielhaus box offices will happily advise you in any way they can. Occasionally an induction loop will not be available for a specific production (see the relevant information for that production).
Surtitles are displayed in selected productions. Details are available on the relevant page under “What’s On”.
MEISTERSINGERHALLE
In the Meistersingerhalle the dress circle of the Great Hall (Grosser Saal) cannot be accessed by lift. 12 wheelchair spaces are available in the stalls of the main auditorium, all with ground level access.
Barrier-free toilets are located in the lobbies of both the Great Hall and the Small Hall (Kleiner Saal).
The ground-level car park next to the Meistersingerhalle includes four disabled parking spaces in front of the entrance to the Great Hall. Two more pairs of spaces for disabled drivers are located respectively in the car park on Schultheissallee and adjacent to the entrance to the conference rooms / Small Hall.
