Rausch

“Rausch” is a one-of-a-kind theatre experience that suspends the traditional boundaries between stage and audience. On the occasion of the Theaterfest for the beginning of the season, the opera’s stage is turning into an expansive, open space where artists and spectators can be face-to-face and fill the space with life.

Under the artistic direction of Richard Siegal, the Ballet, Opera, Staatsphilharmonie, Drama, Choir and Children’s Opera Choir of the Staatstheater, as well as the audience, meld into one living whole. The result is an innovative, overarching work of art in which all art forms respond to each other without hierarchies. Rausch invites the audience to experience theatre in a radically new way: as something disorienting, frenzied, energetic and ecstatic. On top of this, another theatre convention will be broken: You are encouraged to record the experience with your smartphone at many points in the production to share with others.
