RAUSCH is an immersive theatre experience at the Opera House. To mark the theatre festival at the start of the season, the ballet, opera, drama, Staatsphilharmonie, choir and children’s opera choir come together in a single evening to create a unique total work of art. RAUSCH invites you to experience the historic Opera House once again from a completely new perspective. The audience does not enter the building through the main entrance, but is guided along winding paths behind the scenes. They can then watch the artists as a unique interplay of the various art forms gives rise to an exhilarating experience – full of new beginnings, energy and ecstasy, sustained by the close bond between all the theatre’s artistic disciplines.

Ballet director Richard Siegal is responsible for the concept and choreography. Before the musical theatre moves from the historic opera house to the Congress Hall in 2028, RAUSCH also represents for him a moment to pause at this special threshold: “It is an opportunity to inhabit this building once more with heightened attention before it quietly becomes something we remember.” RAUSCH creates a special moment for both the audience and the artists, in which the Staatstheater can be experienced as an artistic community. Everyone contributes to this moment. Together, they create something that no one could achieve alone.

Principal Conductor Roland Böer will both conduct and perform on this special evening. Julia Grüter and Corinna Scheuerle from the opera ensemble will be taking part, alongside Gaia Vogel, Joshua Kliefert and Kinan Hmeidan from the drama company. The costumes are by Flora Miranda, who most recently designed the costumes for the STAATSTHEATER NÜRNBERG BALLET OF DIFFERENCE’s production of ‘My Generation’. Lorenzo Bianchi Hoesch, who composed the music for Siegal’s choreography ‘Lilac’, is creating original music for RAUSCH.

From 10.30 pm, there will be a party with the audience and performers in the Gluck Hall of the Opera House. Alex Cook will be DJing.
