After a long search, Belmonte finally finds the abducted Konstanze: She is being held captive in a Turkish palace by Bassa Selim and guarded by the hot-heated Osmin. Belmonte plans the escape, but ultimately it is the unwavering love between the two that compels Bassa Selim to release her. Bassa Selim dazu bewegt, sie in die Freiheit zu entlassen.

Much more than a piece about different cultures, Mozart’s singspiel is about love—happy, disappointed, loyal, impossible love. At the centre of the comedic and poetic production by David Bösch is Bassa Salim, who painfully learns that love cannot be forced.
