The Barber of Se­vil­le

Count Almaviva is handsome, aristocratic and can sing well, but he is not exactly the brightest. His lack of imagination and improvisational skill stand between him and his only goal: Freeing the beautiful Rosina from the grasp of her marriage-minded guardian, Dr Bartolo, and marrying her himself. Fortunately, he is aided by his assistant Figaro, a man never short of ideas. Not all of Figaro’s ideas go according to plan, but the results are always positive. Nikolaus Habjan has the main characters in the opera played by puppets, thereby drawing on the Italian commedia dell’arte that Rossini’s Barber has its roots in.
