La Finta Gi­ar­di­nie­ra (The Pre­tend Garden Girl)

Something has happened between Violante and Count Belfiore. They were lovers, now she seeks his company again, but she doesn't reveal her identity. In the gardens of the fun-loving dignitary Don Anchise, young people become entangled in more or less promising relationships: Violante is now called Sandrina and still loves Belfiore, but he wants to marry Arminda, whom Ramiro longs for. Serpetta loves Don Anchise, but he has fallen in love with his new gardener, Sandrina, while Serpetta is smitten by Nardo. As the comedy would have it, the (perhaps) right couples eventually find each other – unfortunately, only one remains.
