Two siblings take very different paths in life in one of the most famous germans plays to escape the same constricting social suffocation: The privileged first-born is trying to escape by forming a group of bandits whose idealism quickly boils over into terror. The other, filled with hate and a need for recognition, schemes against her own family and dooms everything. Friedrich Schiller's debut work The Bandits passionately and anarchically examines the contradictions between morality and egocentricity, rationality and emotion, nihilism and sense-making in a chaotic world. Director Ebru Tartıcı Borchers' female ensemble investigates the modern need for self-determination, the price of freedom and how all of this relates to feminism.
