We are concluding our first season with a celebration: a celebration of acting, theatrical art, and the history of drama. With one of the oldest stories of all time: the Oresteia.

Robert Icke, the author of The Doctor, had his breakthrough with his adaptation of this ancient piece, which was acclaimed by both audiences and critics — and this version truly packs a punch. It focuses, in very contemporary and accessible language, on the immense family drama, the unimaginable personal tragedy, and the destructive family dynamics that always — and above all else — entail the sacrifice of the most intimate relationships: those with children, partners, and parents. Stephan Kimmig, the director who has received numerous awards for his productions of ancient plays, has chosen this intelligent and moving adaptation for his debut work in Nuremberg.
