She is hanging from the czandelier with the last of her strength – or rather, the chandelier, as most people here would spell it. Czandelier is a word from her mother language and the language of her mother, who spent her whole life in this new country as a cleaning lady. Her daughter was supposed to have a better life, and she has that indeed, but does she truly belong? Or must she persist in her fear of falling through the cracks?

Award-winning young dramatist Ewe Benbenek has created a breathless work of linguistic art, a rapid stream of consciousness among three voices, that examines the conflicting natures of post-migration identities. Can we ever truly be rid of our own origin, and if so, do we want to be?
