Bonachela Lake Montero

"Lux Tenebris" by Rafael Bonachela, a new work (world premiere) by Stephanie Lake and "Tilt" by Goyo Montero

Music by Nick Wales, Robin Fox and Owen Belton

Innovative, varied, relevant: In the spring premiere, Goyo Montero combines a debut of the award-winning Australian choreographer Stephanie Lake with the electrifying dance piece “Lux Tenebris”, created in 2016 by Rafael Bonachela for his Sydney Dance Company to a musical mix of different styles by composer Nick Wales. The choreographic vocabulary of Stephanie Lake, who manages her own company in Sydney, demands from the dancers a certain level of courage and desire for new combinations of rhythm and virtuosity. The Nuremberg ensemble is the first company in Europe to which the renowned artist has dedicated a new creation.

The three-part ballet event will also include Montero’s hypnotic work “Tilt”, created in 2023 for the Staatsballett Hannover. It is a study of the act of tilting itself, which can cause gambling addicts to make careless risks. Owen Belton was commissioned to revise the work for the Nuremberg company.

"Lux Tenebris" was originally produced by the Sydney Dance Company.
