Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is generally taken to be the best-known and greatest love story of all time – one reason being that the love match is unworkable and fated to be snuffed out after a mere five days: this is because the two protagonists are star-crossed lovers, being offspring of two feuding families, the Capulets and Montagues. Driven by their passion and unconditional devotion to each other, the pair go up against their families’ age-old spiral of vengeance and violence. Reconciliation is achieved, albeit too late for the hero and heroine.

Director Joanna Praml, together with Nuremberg teenagers and chamber actor Pius Maria Cüppers, questions the value of love in a time characterised by demarcation and division and the apparent incompatibility of different social discussions.

Press reviews
Nürnberger Nachrichten/Nürnberger Zeitung

„Unterhaltsam, ansehnlich, stimmungsvoll, amüsant, auch nachdenklich. (...)
