The bookends of this concert are provided by Mozart’s cheery Quintet Movement and Brahms’s Quintet for Clarinet, both written for star clarinet players of the time. Haydn provided the inspiration for future Pulitzer Prize winner Caroline Shaw’s 2011 String Quartet “Entr’acte”.

Anton Webern: Slow Movement for String Quartet (1905)
Caroline Shaw: Entr’acte for String Quartet (2011)
Johannes Brahms: Quintet in H minor, op. 115, for clarinet and string quartet
