Adapted for the stage by Marcus Grube

“My superhuman efforts lately have been giving me wind in my bowels.” What a sensation! Hitler’s diaries have surfaced. The private life of the Führer. A person like you and me. The public is riveted! Trouble is: the diaries are forgeries, the fictional fabrications of a Swabian swindler. Sounds crazy, but it really happened. In 1983 Stern magazine published Hitler’s “diaries”, which turned out to be fakes. Helmut Dietl turned it into a biting satire about the Germans’ fascination with National Socialism. Because it is not only memorabilia from the war that are still appreciated long after the purported “zero hour” of 1945 and the Federal Republic of the ‘80s, which was riddled with original, old-school Nazis. Christian Brey is now bringing the film to the main stage of the Staatstheater Nürnberg.

Press reviews

Uwe Mitsching, Bayerische Staatszeitung
