Hans Zender: Schuberts Winterreise - eine komponierte Interpretation
In 1993 the recently deceased Hans Zender arranged Schubert’s great lieder cycle for tenor and a small orchestra. Zender drew heavily on Schubert’s tonal language while deftly incorporating incongruous sound effects that heighten the feeling of icy cold and metaphysical gloom.
