Neu­be­ginn

The new year begins with a musical celebration, Haydn’s brilliant late work, “The Creation”. His oratorio is more than a simple recounting of the Christian creation myth in the spirit of John Milton’s Paradise Lost. it is also a great story about chaos and order, delight in the wonders of nature and the universe, faith in the abilities of Man and knowledge of the dangers posed to mankind within the context of the European Enlightenment. Soloists from the opera ensemble, the opera chorus and the Nuremberg State Philharmonic Orchestra perform “The Creation” as the prelude to a year that, one hopes, will erase memories of the artistic privations of the last two seasons.
