Thomas Harms besuchte die Hochschule für Schauspielkunst „Ernst Busch“ in Berlin. Nach Engagements am Mecklenburgischen Staatstheater Schwerin und am Stadttheater Lüneburg ist er seit 1993, mittlerweile als Gast, am Staatstheater Cottbus beschäftigt. Hier spielte er u.a. Schuster Vogt im „Hauptmann von Köpenick“, Reverend Tookes in „Die Katze auf dem heißen Blechdach“, Gratiano in Shakespeares „Kaufmann von Venedig“ und bestritt mit Süskinds „Der Kontrabass“ einen Soloabend.
