The US-American McKenna Johnson completed her training at the European School of Ballet (ESB) Amsterdam. Prior to this, she took dance classes for ten years at the Youth Ballet Company in Gilbert, Arizona. During her studies at the ESB, she took part in various university productions. McKenna Johnson won various awards during her studies, including the Youth American Grand Prix (YAGP), and received a short-term scholarship at the Dutch National Ballet Academy. She took part in various workshops in which she familiarized herself with the neoclassical and contemporary repertoire and met Goyo Montero, who has signed her permanently to the Staatstheater Nürnberg Ballett from the 2024/25 season.
