Lighting Design

Licht-Designer

Matthias Singer is a lighting artist working at the intersection of art, design, and architecture. His practice encompasses museum installations, temporary and permanent architectural lighting projects, stage design, and lighting concepts using a wide range of light and video systems.

Since his studies at the Technical University of Munich, he has been creating light installations for nightclubs, later expanding into diverse fields, and—drawing on his technical background—designing bespoke electronics, including planning, circuitry, and programming. This approach extends the possibilities of interactive, immersive light art and integrates cutting-edge technology. Singer frequently collaborates with artists, designers, architects, directors, and choreographers. His works are included in major institutions such as the Vitra Design Museum, V&A Dundee, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Kolumba Museum Cologne, Opera Antwerp, Staatsoper Berlin, and Ruhrtriennale.
