Martina La Ragione, based in Bologna, works as a dancer with internationally renowned choreographers including Teri J. Weikel, Carolyn Carlson, Robert Wechsler, Simone Sandroni, Lenka Flory, Virginia Spallarossa, and Gabriella Maiorino. She worked for the Biennale di Venezia and has appeared as a guest performer with Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch. One of the highlights of her career was performing in Romeo Castellucci's Parsifal at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, with choreography by Cindy Van Acker.
As a choreographic assistant, she collaborated with Simone Sandroni on the creation of The Girl and the Knife Thrower, commissioned by the Bavarian State Ballet. As a choreographer, she has repeatedly created the Bavarian State Ballet's CAMPUS projects Anna Dances and Heinrich Dances, each involving 120 school students and receiving several awards. Together with her colleague Valentina Buldrini, Martina La Ragione won the Premio Equilibrio at Rome's Auditorium for their choreography WILL, a duet that has also been performed in Paris, Pisa, and Edinburgh.
In recent years, she has choreographed several productions for EXPLORE DANCE in Munich and Potsdam. Martina La Ragione is currently a member of the faculty of the professional training programme at Art Factory International, under the artistic direction of former Forsythe dancer Brigel Gjoka.
