M83

M83 is a globally acclaimed French electronic music project led by multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer Anthony Gonzalez. Founded in 2001 in Antibes and named after the spiral galaxy Messier 83, the project has evolved from its early days as a duo into a grand, cinematic musical vision. Known for a lush, "stadium-sized" sound, M83 blends synth-pop, shoegaze, and ambient textures into expansive soundscapes. The project achieved massive international success with the 2011 double album "Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming", featuring the Grammy-nominated breakout hit "Midnight City".

In addition to nine studio albums, including the 2023 release "Fantasy", Gonzalez has gained significant recognition for his work in film. His cinematic contributions include the soundtracks for "Oblivion" (2013) and, most recently in 2025, the original score for Bi Gan’s visionary science-fiction drama "Resurrection", which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. Whether through soaring synthesizers or delicate instrumental scores, M83 continues to define a modern era of nostalgic yet futuristic electronic music.
