Justin Peck is a Tony Award-winning choreographer, director, and filmmaker based in New York City. He serves as the Resident Choreographer and Artistic Advisor of the New York City Ballet, becoming only the second person in the institution’s history to hold the title of Resident Choreographer. Since beginning his choreographic career in 2009, Peck has created over 50 works for major companies worldwide, including the Paris Opéra Ballet, the Royal Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, the Australian Ballet, and the Dutch National Ballet. His work is celebrated for its intricate geometric patterns and dynamic athleticism, often collaborating with contemporary artists such as Shepard Fairey, Jeffrey Gibson, and Eva LeWitt and composers like Sufjan Stevens and Dan Deacon.
Beyond the concert stage, Peck has achieved significant acclaim in film and musical theater. He choreographed Steven Spielberg’s 2021 film "West Side Story" and Bradley Cooper’s "Maestro". In 2024, he won his second Tony Award for directing and choreographing the Broadway production "Illinoise". His recent projects in 2025 include the world premiere of his 25th work for NYCB, Mystic Familiar, and co-choreographing the Broadway musical "Buena Vista Social Club".
