James F. In­galls

James F. Ingalls is an internationally recognized lighting designer whose work spans the worlds of dance, opera and theatre. His work in dance includes numerous designs for the Mark Morris Dance Group, including "L’Allegro", "il Penseroso ed il Moderato" and "The Hard Nut"; "La Bayadère", "Raymonda", "Don Quixote and Coppélia" for Dutch National Ballet; "Twyla Now!" and "Twyla Joyce!" for the Twyla Tharp Dance Foundation; and "Anima Animus" at Paris Opera Ballet/Garnier. Recent designs for opera include "One Morning Becomes an Eternity" at the Salzburg Festival and "Perle Noir" for the Adelaide Festival ’26, both directed by Peter Sellars. Ingalls’ recent designs for theatre include "Endgame" for DRUID Theatre in Galway and New York; and "Three Verses of Solitude" for Zoukak Theatre in Beirut. He often collaborates with "The Wooden Floor dancers" in Santa Ana, CA.
