he bass-baritone Georg Festl has been a part of the soloist ensemble at the Staatstheater Darmstadt, since 2017. He has secured a reputation as a renowned exponent of contemporary and 20th-century repertoire. Festl sang "Golaud" in Pelléas et Mélisande, "Tierbändiger/Athlet" in Lulu, "Orest" in Elektra, "Sam" in Trouble in Tahiti and "Saint François d’Assise" in Messiaen‘s sole opera. His repertoire also includes roles, such as "Figaro" in Le nozze di Figaro, "Papageno" in The Magic Flute, "Leporello" in Don Giovanni, "Dulcamara" in L‘elisir d‘amore, "Heerrufer" in Lohengrin, "Schaunard" in La Boheme and "Frank" in Die Fledermaus.

In collaboration with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the bass-baritone recorded the song "When She Loved Me" for the album "Disney Goes Classical" (Decca Records), which debuted number 1 on the British classical charts. Georg Festl also regularly sings at concerts, such as Beethoven‘s 9th symphony, Orff‘s Carmina Burana, Bach‘s Johannespassion, Rossini‘s Stabat Mater and Petite Messe. While he was still studying at the University of Music Würzburg, the singer was awarded with scholarships by the "Jeunes Ambassadeur Lyrique" in Montreal and the Richard-Wagner-society. Georg Festl currently teaches at the University of Nuremberg/Erlangen.
