IDEA IN ACTION IS THE INTERDISCIPLINARY PRODUCTION AND RESEARCH PLATFORM OF BALLET OF DIFFERENCE AT STAATSTHEATER NÜRNBERG.
During the most recent season, Richard Siegal and the Staatstheater Nürnberg Ballet of Difference made a mark on the city with “Idea in Action”, and this will be intensified in 2026/27: Choreographic interventions will turn the foyers and exhibition spaces of the Neues Museum Nürnberg into an exciting stage. Open training sessions in the foyer of the opera will offer dance enthusiasts of any age the opportunity for a dynamic start to the day. During the summer, the “meadow” in front of the Opernhaus will transform into a stage when Siegal invites the public to groove along to one of his pieces. Public rehearsals, as well as opportunities for participation like the youth project “Die Welt klingt bunt” with children from the bbs educational centre for blind and visually impaired children and youths, which is entering into its second round, will turn “Idea in Action” into a living network of junior performers, professionals and urban society. Dance is a virtuoso stage art and a means of communication, meeting and a challenge to democratic engagement. This is more important now than ever before, as the move to the Kongresshalle on the former Nazi party rally site in 2028 is becoming tangible for opera and dance.
DIE WELT KLINGT BUNT
Premiere: 29/7/2027, 11.00
In summer 2027, the Ballet is continuing its cooperation with “bbs Nürnberg – Bildungszentrum für blinde und sehbehinderte Kinder, Jugendliche und junge Erwachsene,” an educational centre for blind and visually impaired children and young people. For one entire month, Richard Siegal and the Staatstheater Nürnberg Ballet of Difference invite the students to another interdisciplinary dance project. Approximately 120 children between the ages of 6 and 18 can rehearse, train, improvise, dance, speak, sing and make music for three to six hours every day during the last month of the school year instead of sitting at their desks. They will use their own skills to explore new terrain, test their limits and let the artistic team experience how blind and visually impaired people perceive the world.
OPEN CLASSES
The Staatstheater Nürnberg Ballet of Difference invites you to attend a practice
Morning ballet practice is the daily breakfast for all dancers, in its own way. It serves to warm up the muscles for the following rehearsal day while also being invaluable to maintaining fitness, honing technical prowess and preventing injuries. The Staatstheater Nürnberg Ballet of Difference regularly opens its doors to visitors.
Registration: Interested visitors can experience the daily routine of a dancer (after registering at ballet(at)staatstheater-nuernberg.de).
PUBLIC REHEARSALS
